What information we collect

  • Enquiries and bookings: when you use our enquiry or booking forms, email or phone us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, the dates and number of nights you are interested in, how you heard about us, your comments or questions, and your agreement to our Booking Terms and Conditions. Booking forms may also ask for your postal address, the number of guests and your signature.
  • Payments: if you book with us we keep a record of the booking and the payments made. We do not collect or store card details on this website.
  • Website use: if you accept statistics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site, such as the pages you visit, the device and browser you use and your approximate location. It does not tell us who you are.
  • Security and spam protection: our website records basic technical information such as IP addresses and login attempts to keep the site secure, and uses Google reCAPTCHA on our forms to stop spam.

How we use your information and our lawful bases

  • To answer your enquiry, take and manage your booking, and send you information about your stay. Our lawful basis is that this is necessary to enter into or carry out a contract with you, or in our legitimate interests in responding to questions.
  • To keep booking and financial records. Our lawful basis is our legal obligations (for example tax and accounting rules).
  • To keep our website secure and free of spam. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests.
  • To understand how our website is used so we can improve it. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give through the cookie banner.
  • To send you news or offers, but only if you have asked us to. Our lawful basis is your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.

Who we share it with

We only share your information where we need to, with:

  • our website hosting and email providers, who store and send information on our behalf;
  • Google, for Google Analytics (only if you consent) and Google reCAPTCHA;
  • our bank and payment providers, to process booking payments;
  • our accountants and professional advisers, where needed;
  • the police, HMRC or other authorities, if the law requires it.

Some of these providers, such as Google, may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, they use safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or a UK adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 3 years.
  • Booking and financial records: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required by law.
  • Website security logs: around 60 days.
  • Google Analytics data: for a limited period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.

We use cookies that are needed for the website to work and, only if you agree, statistics cookies from Google Analytics. You can read more in our Cookie Policy. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the settings below.

Your rights

Keeping your information safe

Our website uses HTTPS encryption and security software, and only the people who need your information to deal with your enquiry or booking can see it. Email is not always fully secure, so please do not send card details by email.

Our website links to other websites, such as Instagram and the National Trust. We are not responsible for how those websites handle your information, so please read their own privacy policies.
